More about me
👋 I'm McKenna.
For the last 10 years, I’ve architected and led the People & Recruiting functions at startups growing from ~10 to 1,000 employees, including Plaid, Cruise and Meter, and consulted for companies like World and Render. Prior to this, I worked for ~8 years at Coatue, one of the most successful tech-focused hedge funds.
While it was my experience in the private sector that taught me hiring great people and giving them a great work environment is a necessary (and nearly sufficient) condition for any company’s success, my full career breadth has spanned both the private and public sectors. I started and ran a Foundation that gave out over $10m in grants to education and poverty-fighting nonprofits in its first two years. I led hiring for Mayor Lurie’s Transition, one of the most significant shifts in leadership, organizational structure, and culture in recent San Francisco history. I also started (and continue to run) a program that recruits principled and capable people to run for local office.
I spend my free time working on personal creative projects, serving as a Commissioner on the San Francisco Arts Commission, and enjoying every precious minute with my (growing!) family.
